FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

1) What are the system requirements for this video game?

This is a PC game for Windows. This game requires .NET 2.0 in order to run (most of the time this pre-installed already). You can determine what versions of .NET you have installed on your Windows XP computer by checking "Add or Remove Programs" in the Control Panel.

.NET Compact Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2 Redistributable

2) What programming language did you use to develop this video game?

C#

3) What type of video game is Extraterrestrial Grail?

Extraterrestrial Grail is an off-line, single-player, turn-based strategy/board game in which you play against 1-3 computer players.

4) How do you play Extraterrestrial Grail?

This is designed off of my board game in which you are dealt cards at the beginning and you must keep a maximum of 6 in your hand and put the rest in the planet envelopes. The object of the game is to have the Grail card in your hand at the end of the game (when the timer goes off). There are 8 unique aliens which have different abilities and 8 planets for each alien. Some of the planets require Rope or a Flashlight in order to search a planet for Attribute cards. During the game, your alien goes from planet to planet looking for the Grail and fighting other aliens in battle. Or, if you are lucky enough to have started with the Grail at the beginning of the game, then you must protect the Grail in your hand or place it on a planet and protect it from being reached by other players.

For more detailed information regarding how to play, please see the video game manual (PDF).

5) What engine did you use for developing Extraterrestrial Grail?

I developed my own custom-made engine. I wanted the experience of doing this because I wanted to spend more time learning how to develop something in C# versus spending more time on learning a game engine.
