What I belive is previous functionality in menus and toolbars and many task panes were consolidated into one area by implementing Ribbon UI having each tab for various related options grouped together to increase speed (e.g. Move the mouse scroll wheel while on any of the tabs on the ribbon cycles through the tabs which is not possible in menu), if you know where commands are in the ribbon. However, this concept has been around much longer as user of 1980-90 eras have seen in DOS (no graphics but plain text) applications such as Lotus 1-2-3.

However many long-time and traditional users finds that commands are not more discoverable and accessible with fewer mouse clicks or keyboard strokes and especially power-users are upset with the lack of choice between "The Ribbon" and traditional menus in the new 2007 Office system. As the option to revert to classical file menu is not available and there is no expectation that Microsoft may make this a standard inbuilt feature in near future, you may have to use an external addon to add this functionality.

With this addon you can use old menu i.e. Classic Menu in Excel 2007 alongwith some new features of 2007. Save the zip file to your folder and unzip. Run Setup to install the Exshail Classic Menu for Excel-2007.

Adds Worksheet Menubar, Standard Toolbar & Formatting Toolbar in the Exshail Menu Tab in the Ribbon.
Exshailmenu.dll Com-addins File Size is only 64 kb.

Can be uninstall through Add or Remove Programs from Control Panel or enabled\disable through Com-Addins.

Office 2007 Tips :

1. If you find any problems or errors in Microsoft Office 2007, first try to run Microsoft Office Diagnostics from

any one of below methods.

1.Click on the Microsoft Office button located at the top left and click Options at bottom, go to Resources and

click the Diagnose button.

2. Go to Start > Programs > Microsoft Office > Microsoft Office Tools and run Microsoft Office Diagnostics

shortcut.

3. Run C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\OFFICE12\offdiag.exe

The diagnostic may took about 15 minutes or more to complete.

2. You can installed multiple version of Office, each version in the separate folder on the same machine.

Installed your default version at last.
