The healthy brain needs good blood flow. Physical activity promotes brain angiogenesis (the formation of new blood vessels). Blood flow delivers fuel for brain activity and substances needed for cellular maintenance while removing waste. Neurodegeneration (nerve cell death) is likely to happen without a favorable blood supply.
