Bio

I was born in Calgary,  Alberta. I did my B.A. and M.A. in Philosophy at the University of British Columbia in beautiful Vancouver, BC (along with my older brother Adam, who is also a philosopher). I  received my Ph.D. in Philosophy in 2017 from the the University of Maryland, College Park, where I worked under the supervision of Peter Carruthers. I spent the 2017-2018 academic year teaching in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Rochester.  From 2018-2020, I was a postdoc in the Philosophy Department at the University of Toronto, where I worked with Jennifer Nagel.  From 2020-2022, I was a postdoctoral fellow in the Philosophy Department at York University, where I worked with Kristin Andrews on a project about the psychology of social norms. I joined the Department of Philosophy at Purdue University in 2022.

When I'm not doing philosophy, I enjoy playing board games (the kind that ruin friendships), listening to podcasts about history and politics, reading sci fi novels, cooking vegan food, running, and weightlifting.  I also draw philosopher portraits on my office whiteboard.

Speaking of portraits: you should check out my mother Monique's pet portrait website.
