Framework Knitting Machine

This framework knitting machine was used in industry as a stocking frame by Allen Solly of Nottingham and then was at the Leicester Technical College.  The machine was then dismantled for many years but over the last 18 months has been rebuilt to its former glory.

The machine is a 37 gauge frame with a bed width of 26 5/8ths inches, it was half gauged whilst at the college.

The fact that the slur wheel is driven by the treadles using rope and that the bed width is narrower than the normal wide frame indicates the machine is older than my lace frames built in the 1840's.

The machine has solid trucks again showing its age.

The fabric on the machine has been knitted on the machine which is in working order.

The machine has its needle lead mould.
