Teaching

To be an effective teacher requires much more than the ability to stand in front of a class room and speak.  Teaching requires attention to detail without losing sight of the big picture.  In exercise science and physiology, it requires first-hand experience in research, clinical, and subject specific circumstances (e.g., athletic pursuits for exercise science) to bring topics to life.  It requires a student centered mindset to make the information relevant in the pupil's mind, and to facilitate self-education rather than simply “giving lessons”.  Perhaps most of all, it requires desire and patience to work with individuals novice to the topics you have dedicated your life to learning.
