Friday Dinner Menu
Saturday we hit Barna for a multi-stop Tapas crawl from 1 pm to 5 pm.
This is just a suggested route, a list that are geographically consistent.
Start at the Arc de Triomf Metro station on the L1 red line, and head south:
1 - LLAMBER Taverna Gastronomica (Carrer Fusina, 5)
2 - Bar del Pla (Carrer Montcada 2)
3 - Bodega la Puntual (Carrer Montcada 22)
4 - Podega La Palma (Carrer La Palma de Sant Just 7)
5 - Cafè Babel (Carrer Correu Vell, 14)
6 - Belmonte (Carrer de la Mercè 29)
7 - Tasca El Corral (Carrer Mercè 17)
We meet at the Hotel Lobby at 1 pm and head into Barcelona. For those who will be already in town you can either plot your route around these places, based on where in Barcelona you are located, or just contact us to rendezvous. Many of these tapas places are small, so may not be able to accomodate everyone. This is just a plan and should the entire group not be able to find seating, we may break up in smaller groups to hit the other bars, cantinas, tascas and bodegas! It'll be fun. We plan be be back by 5-6 pm for the sundowners at the beach in Castelldefels!
AIRPORT TO HOTEL
TAXI: The fastest, most comfortable way is a taxi. From the international terminal (Terminal 1) to the hotel is approximately €30.- From the low cost terminal (Terminal 2) it will be approximately €35.-
SUBWAY/TRAIN: Take the subway L9 (it also passes through Terminal 2) to El Prat Estacio. From this station catch the train R2 to Platja (Playa) de Castelldefels. Very IMPORTANT the direction of the train has to indicate Vilanova I la Geltru (Vilanova) otherwise it will not stop at the Playa station. If by mistake you get off at the Castelldefels station you have to wait for the next train direction Vilanova or take a taxi, it is to far to walk to the hotel.
NOTE: From Terminal 2 there is a train (a bit of a walk over a bridge) which also takes you to El Prat Estacio, then same procedure. Once you get to Castelldefels Playa station walk towards the ocean and when you get to a roundabout turn left on a broad street (Passeig Maritim) which will take you to the hotel. The walk will take you between 5 and 10 min. depending on your legs and the weight of your baul.
HOTEL TO DOWNTOWN
Train R2 will take you to from Platja (Playa) de Castelldefels to El Prat Estacio and from there to the airport or to downtown Barcelona. To get to downtown your stop should be Passeig de Gracia (Paseo de Gracia), which is close to everything.
Here's a map of all the trains in Barcelona, Castelldefels, the airport, El Prat Estacio and Passeig Gracia are all encircled in red:
MULTIPLE TRAIN RIDES
You can buy a T10 transport ticket to save money if you plan multiple train rides.

Sightseeing Suggestions from Lolo Mike:
1. Sagrada Familia, this church designed by Gaudi is a must. It is difficult to get entrance tickets at the church as they sell out quickly and you have to there very early when they open the booths. Better is to buy on line.
Choose your ticket type, pick the day you want to visit and choose your access time, buy your ticket, show your tickets on your smartphone and enter.
2. Sant Pau (Saint Paul) Hospital designed by Lluis Domenech i Montaner. A good alternative to La Sagrada Familia. The hospital is no longer functional but the architecture is awesome. In fact it is a short walk (15 - 20min) from the Sagrada Familia, so you could probably do both in 4 - 5hrs. Check it out online.
3. The Montserrat Convent to see the "Moreneta" (black virgin). Take the train R5 from the Plaza Espanya station, bring time as this a complicated station, direction Manresa. Your stop will be Montserrat Aeri, from there take the cable car up to the convent, awesome views. If you wish to touch and kiss the "Moreneta" the line can be long so bring patience. If you are not that religious just skip the line, you can still see the virgin from inside the church. Which ever way, this place is worth a visit. A small suggestion on my part. At the Aeri station there is a wonderful small bar/restaurant embedded into the mountain. It is called "Bar el Rincon" just tell the owner Fernando's brother in law, Mike sends you, there could be a surprise in it for you. They are specialised in a mountain paella, no seafood but chicken, sausage and some times rabbit. To get to the restaurant walk all the way down the station platform and it is just past the end.
4. Parque Guell, the Guell park, about a hundred years ago a rich businessman contracted his friend Gaudi to help build a subdivision outside Barcelona with view of the city and the Mediterranean. At that time the project faltered due to the fact that it was to far outside the city, the citizens were just not prepared to move out of the city. Of course in the meantime the city has moved up to the park. Take the bus 24 which stops right in front of the "Corte Ingles" (department store) at the Plaza Catalunya to the Parque Guell. This bus is very popular with tourists as you get a city tour to boot, but caution, it is also very popular with pickpockets. The bus will drop you off right at the entrance to the public part of the park which is free of charge. If you want to see the part that Gaudi influenced take the long flight of stairs down to the left, after that entrance, to the ticket booths on the street at the bottom.
5. La Boqueria, the famous market just off the Rambla de los Flores. This market has everything, it is very colourful and has excellent food stands. As it is a main tourist attraction it is always very busy, positive side, most of the stall vendors speak English. Downside, if there are a few cruise ships in town it turns into a nuts house.
I could go on and on. How about a vintage motorcycle museum in the Calle Banys Nous, close to the Cathedral. Or the Sea Aquarium in the port area, how about the sex museum on the Rambla de los Flores, see Marlyn Monroe dance on a balcony. Or take a ride on the cable car, which was built for the World Exposition back in the 1920's, which connects the port area with the Montjuic park, scene of the 1992 Olympics.
Well my friends I hope these hints help a bit.

Four Awesome Day Trips From Barcelona
All of these 4 destinations are really really worth the trip. Girona and Tarragona are easy as they are an hour train ride from central Barcelona (the former to the north and the letter to the south), whilst Tossa de Mar and Pals would need more planning. Tossa I am sure you can catch a bus from Barcelona (under 2 hours) and with its clear waters, old town, Castle on the beach ... is really breath taking. Pals is a small medieval town (like so many in the beautiful Empordà area north of Girona). Tarragona (The single most important Roman city on he Med) and Girona (fantastic medieval city, containing one of the best well-preserved Jewish quarters in the world), of recent Game of Thrones fame, are both fundamental visits if you are in the area for an extended visit and if you have already visited Barcelona.
Still unsure what to do the week before or after the Reunion .....
The incredible Island of Mallorca is only a 30min flight from Barcelona and Ryanair flights are currently (as of today) under 30€ ROUND TRIP excl. luggage (leave Monday 28 May midday and back Thursday 31 May afternoon ). The island is full of sandy beaches with Caribbean - like cristal waters and white powder beaches. Also has a mountain range towering 2000mt and a huge plain with lush countrysides and small quaint villages. This is an option for those who are never too tired of Sandy beaches (remember our hotel in Barcelona is 200mt away from the beach). You can hire a car and check out various - numerous - beaches and 3-4 days is perfect for this! Although it is not yet high season, Mallorca is a fave tourist spot year round so will be busy non the less so expect mass tourism.
