The Hitotsubashi Association of European Union Law

The Hitotsubashi Association of European Union Law is established on the 28th November 2014.

The reason of the Establishment

The EU is changing, and research on EU law is changing as well. In early times, most of the studies on the law of the EC were carried out by scholars of international law, as a part of their research. However, in recent times EU law has become a research topic not only of scholars of international law and of EU law, but, at least in part, even for scholars of many other fields: constitutional law, administrative law, competition law, environmental law, private law, company law, private international law, labour law, international commerce, criminal law, tax law. Yet, in Japan there is not a Society for EU Law, but only a European Union Studies Association of Japan covering the fields of economics, politics, culture, law and so on.

Feeling the need to provide a specific forum for the research on EU law, taking into consideration the particularities of legal studies and at the same time conceiving in broad terms the notion of law, I decided to establish the “Hitotsubashi Association of European Union Law”
