Biography

Ethan received his B.S. degree in Chemistry from the University of Maryland College Park in 2009. After getting his B.S. degree, he then joined UCLA Biomedical Engineering Interdepartmental Program in 2009 where he worked with Professor James C. Liao (member of the National Academy of Science, National Academy of Engineering, and Academia Sinica) on the development of microbial cell factory for biofuel production. His research in the metabolic engineering of cyanobacteria achieved the first direct photosynthetic conversion of CO2 into 1-butanol. After completing his PhD degree, he briefly continued his work with Professor James Liao on the development of novel metabolic pathways. He started his academic career as an assistant professor in the Department of Biological Science and Technology of National Chiao Tung University in Fall  of 2014.
