Your final assignment, should you choose to accept it, is to craft a Lesson Plan where you use what you've learned about gamification and game based learning to enhance or transpose a current lesson you teach by including a specific app(s) or video game(s) in your classroom activity.
This assignment (or at least a very heavily sketched out draft) will be due on Sunday at the end of week 3.
You'll then have 3 additional days (post class) to review your classmates' work and offer feedback and suggestions. Please try to make sure that everyone in the class has at least 1 response to their work.
Your final revised assignment should be emailed directly to me by the end of the day on Wednesday (technically week 4).
Your lesson plan should include the following details:
The objectives of your lesson and the final product to be produced by the students.
A short narrative description of how you've taught this activity in the past.
The new game resources you've chosen to enhance your lesson with and the rationale for this choice.
An FAQ of potential questions and issues that may arise. For instance, how will your students gain access to the game or app you select? How will you deal with parental resistance? Try to anticipate any pushback or clarifying details that could be needed.
A letter or permission slip for parents explaining why their son or daughter is, for instance, using Angry Birds to learn about physics.
A description of the revised activity including a timeline (here's an example of our class timeline) detailing how you envision the lesson taking place.
A handy checklist for the students to use for the project.
A rubric that you'll use to grade the student's work.
Please email me directly should you have any questions. Below you'll find some optional resources that you may find helpful during the planning stages of this project:
