Let's get to know a little more about one another! I've always loved it when certain types of games allowed me to craft my own character. This activity was an opportunity to become, for a little while, a completely new person or even a creature. I could have a wild hair color, wear wizard robes, or even change my gender. As you can see from the image to the right, things can get pretty odd if you're in that type of mood. These customizable entities are known as avatars. So instead of playing the game as a predetermined character dreamed up by a game engineer you get to traverse the in-world adventures as a heightened version of yourself, an idol, or even your dream self. For this activity I'd like you to design an avatar. You're welcome to use any avatar creation site you find online. Here are few options to get you started:
Once you've crafted your character please share a screenshot of the image in the class discussion area by Friday and introduce your new persona to the class. You can do this by responding to at least 5 of the below questions. Yes, that's a truncated and revised version of the survey James Lipton uses on Inside the Actor's Studio.
Please give your answers as your actual self AND as you imagine your new avatar might respond. Hint: your authentic self and your online avatar probably do not share the same personality, right?
