Windows code page wikipedia
Windows code pages are sets of characters or code pages (known as character encodings in other operating systems) used in Microsoft Windows from the 1980s and 1990s. Windows code pages were gradually superseded when Unicode was implemented in Windows, although they are still supported both within Windows and other platforms.
There are two groups of code pages used in pre-Windows NT systems: OEM and ANSI code pages. Code pages in both of these groups are extended ASCII code pages.

Fabric computing wikipedia
Fabric computing or unified computing involves the creation of a computing fabric consisting of interconnected nodes that look like a 'weave' or a 'fabric' when viewed collectively from a distance.
Usually this refers to a consolidated high-performance computing system consisting of loosely coupled storage, networking and parallel processingfunctions linked by high bandwidth interconnects (such as 10 Gigabit Ethernet and InfiniBand) but the term has also been used to describe platforms like the Azure Services Platform and grid computing in general (where the common theme is interconnected nodes that appear as a single logical unit).
The fundamental components of fabrics are "nodes" (processor(s), memory, and/or peripherals) and "links" (functional connection between nodes). While the term "fabric" has also been used in association with storage area networks and switched fabric networking, the introduction of compute resources provides a complete "unified" computing system. Other terms used to describe such fabrics include "unified fabric", "data center fabric" and "unified data center fabric".

Pennsylvania detour signs wikipedia
Pennsylvania has a system of "color detour signs" in which any detour follows signs with a specific color. The detours are meant to be used if a limited-access highway has to be closed for an emergency situation such as a flood or car accident, directing motorists along local roads near the limited-access highway to the next exit. They are generally color-coded according to direction, with blue meaning north, red meaning south, green meaning east, and orange meaning west. However, other colors, such as black and brown, are sometimes used when detour routes overlap with one another

SFTP vs. HTTPS freshmeat.net
Discussion of various transfer technologies
SFTP vs FTPS vs HTTPS vs OpenPGP forums.overclockers.co.uk
FTP over SSL is not on our list of supported protocols. It's also our understanding that the FTP over SSL only encrypts the client login information on the initial port and not the data flow itself, as FTP is a two port process. Trying to get FTP over SSL is difficult to get working through a firewall because of the two-port (two-connection).
For these reasons, our standard protocol selection has been (in order):
1) SSH/SFTP - single connection data stream is secure, both the authentication and data stream are secure, can use public-key authentication, supported by all standard systems.
2) HTTPS - single connection data stream is secure, supported by all standard systems.
3) OpenPGP encryption with FTP - the data stream uses public-key encryption, authentication is not secure, supported by all standard systems.

CAQH CORE Phase II caqh.org
CORE overview caqh.org
CORE FAQ caqh.org
Are the CORE Operating Rules for EDI, Direct Data Entry (DDE) and Web-based Transactions?
The CORE operating rules only apply to EDI. DDE and Web-based transactions are not within the scope of the CORE rules. Web-based transactions, as defined in the CORE rules, apply only to transactions that do not use the X12 standard 270/271 format. The CORE web-based definition is similar to the CMS definition for DDE (Direct Data Entry), i.e., defined as a direct interaction between a payer and provider that does not utilize the HIPAA eligibility 270/271 transaction.
How Did CORE Decide That HTTP/S is Secure and Reliable Enough to Protect the Delivery of Healthcare Information Over the Internet?
CORE solicited input on this topic from its Technical Work Group members and experts within healthcare and other industries, such as financial services. Based on this input, including the information that other healthcare industry projects, such as the Markle Foundation's Connecting for Health project and the CMS Nationwide Health Information Network architecture prototypes, are using HTTP/S over the Internet, CORE determined that HTTP/S is an appropriate choice as the baseline standard for delivery of healthcare information.
Where Can I Get More Information About Exchanging Data In HTTP/S?
Many organizations and regional healthcare trading partners have adopted detailed specifications for exchanging this information in HTTP/S. These include:
Availity (in wide use in Florida) availity.com
HTP (used by UHIN and other organizations) htp-inc.com
HTS (the format used by NEHEN in New England) nehen.org
MN HIPAA Collaborative (Minnesota) mnhipaacollab.org
Other examples submitted to CAQH ( www.caqh.org) - CAQH has created the Phase I HTTPS Examples document based on these submissions.

EDI vs. EDIFACT taskperformance.com/edibasics
There are two flavors of EDI: 1) Accredited Standards Committee (ASC) X12 - otherwise known as standard EDI, and 2) UN/EDIFACT which is more commonly referred to as EDIFACT. EDI is the American standard for transaction interchange, while EDIFACT is the acknowledged standard for global applications.
Bank Administration Institute | BAI2 wikipedia
BAI_(file_format) BAI, or the BAI file format, is a colloquial term used to describe a file format for using to perform electronic cash management balance reporting. The BAI format was developed and previously maintained by the Bank Administration Institute (BAI). One common application of the BAI format is for use by banks to transmit returned item data to customers (for example, checks which have been marked insufficient funds (NSF)). The current release is Cash Management Balance Reporting Specifications Version 2, typically referred to as BAI2. Cash Management Balance Reporting Specifications Version 2 Technical Reference Manual

Cash Management Balance Reporting Specifications Version 2, Technical Reference Manual bai.org
The Cash Management Balance Reporting Specifications were designed to be the basis for agreement between a bank and its corporate customer on how data from the bank’s account processing software would be communicated to the customer’s account processing software.
[There is also some history here, including some specifications now out of support]
In 2008, the Bank Administration Institute transferred copyright ownership of the BAI file format to the Accredited Standards Committee X9, Inc. - Financial Industry Standards (ASC X9)- www.x9.org.

Cash Management Balance Reporting Specifications Version 2, Technical Reference Manual
This “cash management balance reporting” Version 2 specification copyright ownership was transferred to the Accredited* Standards Committee X9, Inc
– Financial Industry Standards (ASC X9) from the previous copyright owner Bank Administration Institute (BAI).
As of June 24, 2009, Accredited Standards Committee X9, Inc. Financial Industry Standards filed copyright ownership. Upon the transfer of the
document copyright, the ASC X9 membership initiated a new project to revise and develop the Version 2 specification to become an X9 - American National Standard. This new project revision will improve the quality of reporting information as well as allow firms to increase visibility to cash, intra-day
reconciliation and liquidity management.
As reporting systems become more complex, differences in data formats can cause considerable difficulty for corporations. The BAI specification has
been widely used for information reporting of account balances, transactions, lockbox detail, and controlled disbursement detail. The existing cash
management reporting (BAI format) is not currently a standard; it is a commonly used format. It has many optional fields which allow variations from
bank to bank. Often companies implement many variations of the specification causing a large investment in scripting and resources to integrate these format versions in their back office applications (Treasury Workstations, A/P systems, ERP, etc).
The expected outcome of the project will update the BAI specification to become an American National Standard incorporating best practices and code sets from both the current specification and the IS0 20022 CAMT (cash management) reporting messages and associated code sets. Corporations have expressed a desire for a global cash management standard that is implemented in a consistent manner by financial institutions. This initiative will promote
standardized use of the former BAI formats while at the same time, ensuring interoperability with ISO 20022. By establishing a standard for communication among multiple parties, the specifications facilitate complete, accurate, and timely information reporting, and help reduce the cost of providing this service.
This dated document will be replaced by the official American National Standard when completed (when approved it will be numbered X9.121).

[deploying browsers over Citrix]
And just fyi, deploying the browser via Citrix would need to be factored into the capacity analysis. Also, we have had some folks try this lately with mixed results. One of the issues is running the plug-ins (e.g., Flash plug-in) on the server which causes server-side rendering which can be network intensive and performance can be an issue. However, Citrix has solutions to help with this including HDX MediaStream Flash Redirection which can leverage the plug-in on the client to render the flash content. Just something to consider.....we don't have much experience with it as it has not been a typical deployment pattern to date. Jeff DeWeese, Esri, 8/2/2011 'RE: WAN Estimations for BT'

Esri licensing proceedings.esri.com
Option to license by either the physical server or the virtual server
ArcGIS Server 10 - Licensing by Core gis.stackexchange.com
[What is the original source of this information?]
Option 1: Licensed by the number of cores on the virtual server-When creating a virtual server, a specific hardware server emulation configuration is typically defined. For example, a virtual server could be configured to run on a 2-, 4-, 8-, or 16-core physical server (the physical server does not matter for this option) or could be configured to use the cores from multiple physical servers. If the virtual server is configured as a 4-core virtual server, the license (and the license fee for it) would be a 4-core license. If the virtual server is configured as an 8-core virtual server, then the license and license fee would be a 4-core license with 4 additional cores. In this license model, the number of cores for the virtual server configuration is used to determine the license fee. The number of cores on any physical servers that support the virtual server are not used to determine the license fee.
Option 2: Licensed by the number of cores on the physical servers on which the virtual server is defined-Customers can license the physical servers on which virtual servers are configured. Generally, this model requires that all cores on the physical servers supporting virtual server configurations must be licensed. However, some virtualization technology now supports hardware partitioning. If the customer can document that their virtualization technology supports hardware partitioning, ESRI allows licensing based on the specific hardware resources being utilized by the hardware partition. For example, if the virtualization software supports creating a virtual server that utilizes a particular socket, or specific cores on a socket, then licensing is based on the specific number of physical hardware cores specified. Note: fractional partitioning below the core level still requires that the entire core be counted for licensing purposes. When licensing by the physical server, customers are free to install and run any number of instances of ESRI server software in any virtual servers that they create without the need for additional software licenses, provided that the physical server they are using is properly licensed to run this server software.

[ArcGIS server licensing] Howard Crothers, email Joel Smith 8/4/2011
"ArcGIS Server is licensed per core, whether it's running on a physical or virtual machine. The base license of ArcGIS Server is 4 cores. Beyond that you purchase additional cores in increments of 1. So if you are licensing 2 servers that have 8 cores each than you would need would need 1 ArcGIS Server License and 4 additional core license for each of the machines. So in totality 2 ArcGIS Server Licenses and 8 additional core licenses. If you are running VMs you can choose to either license the total number of cores for all the VMs you have or all of the cores for the physical machine (or machines) the VMs are running on."

Pluggable Authentication Modules (PAM)
Pluggable authentication module | PAM wikipedia
Pluggable authentication modules (PAM) are a mechanism to integrate multiple low-level authentication schemes into a high-level application programming interface (API). It allows programs that rely on authentication to be written independent of the underlying authentication scheme.
Name Service Switch (NSS) wikipedia
The Name Service Switch (NSS) is a facility in Unix-like operating systems that provides a variety of sources for common configuration databases and name resolution mechanisms. Such source databases include local operating system files, for example, /etc/passwd, /etc/group, and /etc/hosts, the Domain Name System (DNS), the Network Information Service(NIS), LDAP, and others.

Best Practices for Integrating Kerberos into Your Application kerberos.org
Recommended Practices for Deploying & Using Kerberos in Mixed Environments kerberos.org
Kerberos and Microsoft's Active Directory While Kerberos was developed independently of any particular platform technology, 1 the adoption of Kerberos by Microsoft has hugely influenced the adoption of Kerberos. Microsoft not only integrated Kerberos into its Windows family or operating systems and services, it tightly integrated Kerberos into the Active Directory service framework. Since most other Kerberos implementations employ much looser integration with other services, it is important to understand the consequences of Microsoft's tight integration approach, as this directly contributes to many of the issues that are likely to be encountered when mixed environments include Windows and non-Windows systems.
