TaCT-FoRSED

🔵 “Tackling Conspiracy Theories by Fostering Resilience and Self-Efficacy of Democracy” (TaCT-FoRSED) is a project funded by the European Commission’s Horizon Europe program under the DEMOCRACY-01-04 call. The project, which goes from February 2025 to January 2028, is led by the University of Passau and has a budget of €2.5 million, over half a million of which is allocated to the UAB.

The project addresses the growing erosion of trust in democratic institutions and the parallel rise in belief in conspiracy theories. These beliefs undermine democratic procedures, weaken civic participation, and foster harmful political identities. The TaCT-FoRSED project aims to fill a scientific gap regarding the interplay between democracy, identity formation, and conspiracy theories.

Marc Guinjoan and Carol Galais are in charge of the work packages related to opinion data generation and empirical analyses. As part of the project, an online survey will be conducted across 15 countries, and systematic data on conspiracies will be collected. The project will combine observational and experimental methods.
