Ms. Cindy Engelhard has received her Bachelor of Arts and her Masters of Arts degrees. With her master's she also has a reading endorsement for K-12. Her colloquy came from Concordia College, Ann Arbor. In addition to this she has taken numerous other classes and has serveral additional graduate credits.
She is also trained in M.L.P.P. (Michigan Literacy Progress Profile - reading), Orton-Gillingham (reading), Evidenced Based Literacy Instruction (reading), D.I.B.E.L.S. (reading), AIMS (both science and math), MOLVE (math) and SOLVE (science). She has also taken classes of interest in sign language and Spanish.
On December 1, 2004, Cindy was honored with the Michigan Farm Bureau K-12 Teacher of the Year award for her support of teaching agriculture.
She has several years experience as a preschool director and teacher. She has also taught a dual classroom of first and second. Currently she is teaching grade two, and serves as the Music Coordinator for Christ the King for the Lutheran Schools Music Festival. She works with students so they can compete in this annual spring competition.
In addition to the contained classroom, she has also taught music K-8, vocal, and handbells 5-8. Each spring for a number of years she has taken a great number of students to the Lutheran Schools Music Festival in areas of handbells, vocal singing, as well as instrumentals in piano, violin, clarinet, flute, and trumpet, or whatever instrument a student might play. She also serves as church organist.
Outside of Christ the King, Ms. Cindy Engelhard also has served on the Lutheran Schools Music Festival committee as the Webmaster. She has developed the website, and managed the registrations for the two local festivals. Ms. Engelhard has also served as treasurer of this committee.
She has also served on the committee for the Northwest Early Childhood Conferences. This committee meets annually to promote education and training of early elementary teachers. In the past years she has also served as treasurer and president of this committee.
