Michael Lombardi is a former professional boxer, wrestler (under the name PhantomX) and multi talented musician also known professionally as LD. LD was born August 8th, 1974 in Yonkers, NY. LD is of Italian heritage on his Father’s side and Armenian and Slovakian on his Mother’s side. LD was raised in a upper middle household by his Mother, Grandmother and Grandfather til age six. In the winter of 1980, LD, his mother and grandma all were extras in a pizza parlor scene in the 1981 Mickey Rooney film, Bill. At the age of six his Grandfather died of cirrhosis of the liver. Following the loss of his Grandfather that early summer of ‘81, his family moved a bit more upstate in New York to Fishkill. LD became obsessed with 80’s gothic culture and starting in 1984 at age ten he wore black mascara and dark clothes on a daily basis.
FILM
LD starred in several films as a child and teen.
For the independent film company Troma. LD’s first film for Troma was, Class Of Nuke Em High (1986). LD was cast as an extra during the motorcycle scene in the beginning of the movie and this would be his only role ever without his black mascara.
In 1987 he was in another Troma film, Surf Nazi’s Must Die and he was cast as the boy who steals the woman’s purse on the beach. LD would do two more films with Troma, Tromeo & Juliet (1996) and Poultrygeist (2006). For both of these films he was cast as a walk on extra.
For the independent film company Full Moon he starred in Gingerdead Man 2 (2008) and Gingerdead Man 3 (2011). For both of these films he was cast as walk on extras.
Boxing
LD began training under Jon Chen at Jon Chen’s World of Fighting in July 1997 in Fishkill, NY.
LD had 21 wins and 0 losses under the featherweight division. LD’s first match was versus Louis O’ Neil. All of LD’s fights under the featherweight division were knock outs. When LD went up to the weight of lightweight following his twenty-first win as a featherweight, he suffered three horrible knock out defeats. His last fight in August of 1999 was to an unknown Mexican wrestler and for this fight it had taken LD nearly five minutes to wake up from the knock out. After this last match LD retired from boxing.
Wrestling
In 2011 LD began wrestling for Impact Wrestling under the name, PhantomX. He wore black mascara and a black jumpsuit. LD had three prime time wrestling matches and one caged match which had twenty wrestlers. For this match LD finished in the top five. After this match LD moved from New York to Florida and finished wrestling for Impact.
In June 2021 LD had secured the name Tiger Punch Wrestling and a venue to open his first wrestling gym but ultimately his time in Stillwell, Oklahoma was short and thus he didn’t open his gym.
MUSIC
LD was raised on 70’s AM pop radio. His first memory of a pop song was, I Love A Rainy Night by Eddie Rabbitt while it was being played through a car radio in a 1978 Buick Park Avenue while it was raining in New York and his mother, childhood friend Phillip and his mother were trying to find a twenty-four hour McDonald’s while it was down pouring after spending a day at Rye Playland.
LD grew up through the 70s, 80s and early 90s and enjoyed pop and country til he discovered rap and metal in ‘83, while at summer camp in Beacon, NY. From that point on LD had rap friends and metal friends and while he did listen to all that 80’s FM radio had to offer him, his true love for music was what was NOT normally played on formatted radio. So in these days before the internet LD started to listen to college radio for punk rock and modern rock offerings in music which LD happily enjoyed.
Getting Discovered
In the summer of 1989 while LD was at summer camp for the YMCA in Poughkeepsie, NY. LD was performing his own rap song for the talent show and a DJ for the local radio station K104(WSPK) was in the audience to watch his own child perform and was quite over took by LD’s performance. After LD finished performing the DJ had an intern approach LD for more information about his song in which time they both thought that LD was performing a cover song. LD sat down for a chat with the DJ along with LD’s mother and the DJ couldn’t believe that a “white boy” of the age of fifteen could write such a unique rap song and only using a basic $30 keyboard for beats.
The DJ arranged for LD to come to the studio the following Monday morning and to perform his song on the morning show. While LD was performing his song, a representative for Sony/Epic was in the listening room and had a conversation with LD after the show. LD was signed to Sony that day but the representative for Sony didn’t know where a “white boy rapper” would fit in as a solo rapper in the current day so LD was “shelved” until further development in the rap and music scene.
In the fall of 1989 LD entered high school and formed his first band which was heavy metal inspired called, Crystal Lake. The name being taken from the campground lake from the film series, Friday The 13th. Together with his two other band mates Jason and Darren they’d record a four track EP and as would always be going forward, LD composed all lyrics and music.
Crystal Lake was short lived and over the course of the next few years LD was taught classical guitar from a graduate of Julliard School of Music.
In the spring of 1992 LD and his new best buddy from study hall on school would form a new band, Poseidon, or better known as, Pose-Idon. This new friendship would last a decade and the Pose-Idon name would stick around for thirty years thus far.
LD was a DJ and advertising salesman for the old timey country AM station WRVW out of Hyde Park, NY from September 1993 to September 1994.
LD’s contract with Sony expired in the fall of 1994. Sony wanted to record his, “Time 2” album with new singer Jason Dennis on lead vocals but since Jason would go on to rob the very same Burger King restaurant in which he worked at, Sony passed on the repacked offering with replacement singer Eric Malora on vocals.
In early July 1994 LD asked his new girlfriend Gia Reynolds to sing for Pose-Idon and she said yes. LD had sang a few duets during karaoke nights at the bar in Fishkill, NY. Gia sounded a lot like Janis Joplin. After a few successful live shows LD, Rikki and Gia recorded a few demos for Sony and they were some what interested but Gia was sinking fast. Gia would go out and song karaoke til 3am and blow out her vocals. On the night that a representative from Sony stopped by ones of our shows, Gia's voice was all raspy and she was sipping tea throughout the show. The evening was a disaster and the representative for Sony left without saying another word to LD. LD was informed weeks later by Sony that they weren't interested in Pose-Idon with Gia on vocals nor were they able to give LD any more time. Sony's interest with LD and LD and Rikki fired Gia.
The sound of Pose-Idon varied from album to album; light rock, hard rock, metal, folk, Christian, etc.
Pose-Idon has released sixty albums to date. The last album being 2010’s PhantomXBlue and the most current single being, Cold Arizona Winter, which was released as a rough draft on TikTok in June ‘22.
