Also, you can visit local museums for free with the library's museum passes. If you click on the Children's section, you will see a calendar of events and links to fun web sites.

Encourage your child to read on RAZ-Kids every day! Your ELL student has a RAZ-Kids account through the ESOL Department, and the teacher username is jdorlb. In RAZ-Kids, students can read books independently, listen to books read aloud, and take comprehension quizzes after reading/listening.
The Family Resource Center at Charter Oak International Academy has many resources available. They offer free Saturday play groups for young children, summer programs and many other programs and events. Language, Laptops and Little Ones is a free program for adults with preschool-aged children. Adults go to English classes while their children participate in a preschool-type program. Sign up for summer camp! The West Hartford Leisure Services activity catalog is usually published three times per year.
Do you have another child who is younger than five? Irene Garneau is the Department Supervisor for Early Childhood in West Hartford. She can help you find a preschool program for your younger children. Scholarships are available to help make preschool affordable for your family.
