About Martha

Martha Kemm Barrett Landes was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma and loves the state. She taught music in Broken Arrow and Tulsa Public schools for 23 years. During that time, she consistently wrote songs for her students, most notably, Oklahoma, My Native Land, the official state children's song.

Kids with Character is used widely in elementary schools to enhance character education programs.

In addition to the songs listed on the home page, Martha has written hundreds of songs for children and 13 full musicals (Jack and the Beanstalk, The Emperor's New Clothes to name a few) several of which are regularly performed in children's theaters and schools. These are available upon request.

Martha remarried and currently resides in New Mexico, but visits her native land of Oklahoma regularly and still considers it home.
