Welcome

Welcome to my personal site. I am a Professor of Economics at Leicester Castle Business School, De Montfort University and director of the Institute for Applied Economics and Social Value

My main research and teaching interests broadly fall in the areas of game theory, public economics and behavioural economics. Within that, my primary expertise is in the study of coordination and cooperation within groups. For example, my research has provide insight on topics such as social norms, prejudice, leadership, public goods and networks. A current project is looking to map and understand rural farming networks in Vietnam.

I am also actively involved with a number of projects on cyber-security, applying insights from game theory and behavioural economics. One strand of work looks at ransomware. Another looks at the human aspects of cyber-security in small businesses and charities.

Since moving to De Montfort University I have become involved in a number of projects around the local economy. This includes being academic lead on a KTP with the East Midlands Chambers of Commerce to set up a business intelligence unit. I also led a project with Rob Watson from Decentered Media, on the 2021 Census, that led to the Leicester Stories website

On this site you can find out more about my research. You can also read more about my textbooks on behavioral economics and microeconomics. If you want a copy of a paper that is not available here then just send me an email or make a request on Research Gate.
