We are moving. As of Wednesday 4th November, East Grinstead Chess Club will not only move our night of the week to a Wedneday, but we will also be movivng to new premises.  The new address is:  Social and Ex-Services Club, 4 Station road. East Grinstead RH19 1DJ.  We will meet at 19.00  each Wednesdays throughout the year.

25/26 - East Grinstead 1 has finished at the top of division 1 of the Sussex Chess League.  We share first place with Brighton and Hove 1.

East Grinstead has also won the Paul Watson Trophy, beating Hastings and St Leonards in the final 2.5-1.5.

25/26 report:

East Grinstead Chess Club continues to thrive with membership steadily growing. We have tried to vary the program this season, and in this respect we are fortunate to have an English International Master Chris Baker  in our ranks.  Chris took on playing simultaneously 13 boards and won most on a very  enjoyable evening. Chris also conducted a successful training evening which was open to non club members.  In addition we also ran several 10 min tournaments throughout the season.   Our Internal Rapid Play attracted te bulk of members.  Congratulations to Graham Robertson who won the competition. 

We now have three teams in the Mid Sussex League with our 1st Team having an excellent season finishing joint top of Division 1 winning 7 matches, drawing two and only losing one.  

East Grinstead also fielded teams in both the MacArthur Cup and Paul Watson Trophy. After winning the MacArthur cup for the past two years, East Grinstead were beaten by Sussex University. We were however victorius in the Paul Watson Trophy for the first time in our history after a close fought win against Hastings & St. Leonards in the Final.
