Edgar J. Sanchez Carrera is Associate Professor of Economics at the Department of Economics and Management (DISEI), University of Florence. He was previusly Associate Professor in Economics at the Department of Economics, Society, and Politics at the University of Urbino Carlo Bo.
He holds the Italian National Scientific Qualification for Full Professor in Economics and Economic Policy. Since 2018, he has also been a Research Fellow at the Research Center in Applied Mathematics, Autonomous University of Coahuila, Mexico.
His research focuses on behavioral macroeconomics, evolutionary game theory, development economics, poverty traps, inequality, economic growth, environmental dynamics, and applied econometrics.
He received his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Siena in 2010. His doctoral research examined the evolutionary and strategic foundations of poverty traps. In 2010, he received the Vinci Prize for the best doctoral thesis in economics in Italy.
He has held visiting and research positions in Italy, Mexico, and the United States, including a postdoctoral research fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis, under the supervision of Prof. Costas Azariadis.
