Edgar J. Sánchez Carrera
I am an Associate Professor of Economics at the Department of Economics and Management (DISEI) of the University of Florence. I am also a Research Fellow at CIMA, UAdeC, Mexico, and Associate Editor of Macroeconomic Dynamics, published by Cambridge University Press.
My research explores the complex dynamics of economic systems, with a particular focus on behavioral macroeconomics, evolutionary game theory, development economics, poverty traps, economic growth, inequality, and environmental dynamics.
I study how economies, societies, and institutions may become locked into inefficient or unequal equilibria, and how they can move toward more sustainable and inclusive development paths. To address these questions, my work combines dynamic economic modeling, applied econometrics, and game-theoretic methods, with particular attention to the roles of policy, institutions, innovation, expectations, and individual behavior.
More broadly, my research seeks to understand the mechanisms that generate persistence, coordination failures, structural inequalities, and long-run development traps, as well as the conditions under which economic systems can adapt, transform, and escape them.
