Prospective organizers should submit a proposal to the EC2 director. Conferences are planned as much as two year in advance, so the earlier a proposal is
submitted the better.
A proposal should include:
Location of the conference
Name of local organizer
Details about the theme that the organizer has in mind for the conference;
Suggestion (or suggestions) for the program chair. The program chair should be "external" to the instution(s) hosting the conference. The program chair is typically a leading researcher in the area of the conference theme.
Ideally, the proposed program chair has been contacted and agreed. A working title for the conference and a list of possible invited speakers can also be included in the proposal. Formally, it is the program chair who (in agreement with local organizer and director) sets the title and chooses the invited speakers.
Potential organizers should submit their proposal to the EC2 director (from 2021 Frank Kleibergen)
