Class Level Descriptions
Intro: A gentle introduction to yoga. Suitable for new students including seniors and those who have physical limitations.
Level 1: For new students. Emphasis will be on learning standing, sitting, backbending, twisting and inverted poses in their preliminary stages. Attention will be on correct alignment in poses.
Level 2: For students who have sufficient experience in the poses taught in Level 1 such that detailed instructions are not required to engage the posture. Level 2 poses will be introduced.
Level 3: For students who have taken Level 2 classes for a sufficient period of time. Strong standing poses required. All poses will be refined further. Headstand and shoulder stand will usually be done and intermediate poses will be practiced.
Restoratives: Passive practice uses props to help promote calmness of the mind, patience and endurance. Relaxing and rejuvenating poses are practiced the 4th or 5th week of each month.
Jehangir Sequences: Breath awareness and one thread connects Suryanasmaskar, the Rites, standing, sitting, inversions, backbends, pavanmuktasana variations and splitting actions in the sequences.
