NEW!!! Weekday Toddler Classes and Saturday STE(A)M Classes
ECP offers Parent and Child Toddler Classes, which run from September through May and are organized into three 11 week quarters. A parent (or other caregiver) attends with the child.
Toddler 1 or "Bunnies" is for children who are 12 - 24 months on August 31. It meets on Monday mornings. Toddler 2 or "Foxes" is for children who are 24 - 36 months on August 31 and meets on Tuesday mornings.
Our Daily Schedule
10:00 - 10:30 Free Choice Time
10:30 - 10:50 Opening Circle
10:50 - 11:00 Snack
11:00 - 11:50 Parent Ed / Free Choice Time
11:50 - 12:00 Closing Circle
During Free Choice time, we have many different activities to choose from. Stations include: art (painting, drawing, stickers and more), play-dough, fine motor skill builders, sensory bin, water table, blocks, trains and cars, books, pretend play, large motor (gym), and more. This child-led, play-based approach to learning helps children grow in all areas of child development. Learn more.
Circle Time is an opportunity for your child to learn how to participate in group classes. They practice sitting still and listening, as we sing songs, learn rhymes, play instruments, hear stories, and play with the parachute. That is followed by snack time.
After snack, the children have more Free Choice time. Half of the parents / caregivers attend a parent education session in one of the classrooms while the other parents and the children's teacher supervise the children's play. (During spring quarter, we add in outdoor time on the playground for our Foxes class.)
Parent Education sessions are led by an experienced professional, and cover child development and parenting. We address topics from language development to discipline, from emotional intelligence to potty training, from nutrition to cultural identity. The class also serves as a peer support group where you connect with and learn from other parents.
We end class with closing circle, which includes more songs, and a "letter of the week" for Foxes.
If you have a child who will be between 12 and 36 months on August 31 or if you have questions about the class, contact our registrar at EastgateRegistrar@gmail.com.
Classes enroll by the quarter. Fall quarter is September to November. Winter is December to early March, and Spring is March to May. We encourage families to plan to attend for all three quarters (33 weeks total). Thus, those enrolled in fall quarter have first priority for winter quarter enrollment, and those in winter have first priority for spring.
