ECP offers a Parent and Child Toddler Class on Tuesday mornings from 10 am to 12 pm during the school year. A parent (or other caregiver) attends with the child.
Our Daily Schedule
10:00 - 10:30 Free Choice Time
10:30 - 10:50 Opening Circle
10:50 - 11:50 Parent Ed / Free Choice Time
11:50 - 12:00 Closing Circle
During Free Choice time, we have many different activities to choose from. Stations include: art (painting, drawing, stickers and more), play-dough, fine motor skill builders, sensory bin, water table, blocks, trains and cars, books, pretend play, large motor (gym), and more. In the springtime we add outdoor time on our playground. (Learn more about how play-based learning helps children grow in all areas of child development.)
Circle Time is an opportunity for your child to learn how to participate in group classes. They can practice sitting still and listening, and also sing songs, learn rhymes, play instruments, hear stories, and play with the parachute.
After circle, the children have more Free Choice time. Half of the parents / caregivers attend a parent education session in one of the classrooms while the other parents and the children's teacher supervise the children's play.
Parent Education sessions are led by an experienced professional, and cover child development and parenting. We address topics from language development to discipline, from emotional intelligence to potty training, from nutrition to cultural identity. They also serve as a peer support group where you connect with and learn from other parents.
We end class with closing circle, which includes more songs, and a "letter of the week" sound.
If you have a child who will be between 24 and 36 months on September 1 or if you have questions about the class, contact our registrar at EastgateRegistrar@gmail.com.
