bREaD sandwiched Beets in the early game, 10-7. It was a good contest that came down to a few points.
In the prime time battle of first and last place teams, Black Sheep put the Lean Green Bean Machine to sleep, 13-8. Green kept it going, and saved face with an improved second half.Â
White welcomed Lucas back from Grand Masters, and the team handled Blue's Clues in the late game, 15-6. Many in the league are counting down the days until Keegan and Marisa's wedding, and Bobby is wondering how soon his baby girl will be a faster runner than he is. So happy for these folks, even though it is making me feel almost as old as I do trying to play ultimate.
With tonight's win and purple's loss, white has clinched at least the 2-seed in the playoffs. They could still edge black for the 1-seed, but they need to win out and for black to lose both of their remaining games for that to happen. The battle for the 3-, 4-, and 5-seed is still close. With purple's loss to red, and blue's loss to white, purple still holds the edge for the 3-seed with a 7-7 record. Blue and red are only one game back though, both at 6-8. Blue holds the tie break over red having won the season series between the two teams 2-1, so Blue's Clues currently hold the 4-seed. Each of those three teams are all still able to finish the regular season as the 3-seed, which would match them against 6-seed green to open the playoffs, while the 4- and 5-seeds would face each other in the postseason.
Safe travels and best of luck to Where's Waldie? and all the other players and teams from the league who are traveling to Wildwood this weekend. Remember there are no league games on Monday, July 28, but the field is available for pickup.
I also plan to open registration and post the interest form for fall league next week. Once again, we'll extend a discount to players returning from our summer season. I will also announce team's summer all star selections and post the summer feedback and awards survey.
