Red Rum began the early game up two breaks on Betty White, but Betty White came back with three straight points to take the lead and they took half up 8-6. Red Rum endeavored to keep it close, tying the score back up in the second half only to have Betty White pull away again late. Betty White got the win 15-11. Red Rum have lost three straight games. They still cling to the overall lead in the standings, but their lead is down to only one game.
Black Pearl had some drama during the late game. After they made a great defensive play on the field, Bobby yelled, "What are you doing?" It turned out he was yelling at the New York Mets. I understand they could hear him from Milwaukee. The game was 8-5 Black Pearl at half, and Bobby had to leave to pay even closer attention to the Mets. (Spoiler alert, it was worth it.) Matt Heslinga and Evan Gora both got shout outs for their play for Black Pearl, and Torch made some great deep cuts! Black Pearl got the win 15-8.
I made an error in the schedule this fall. I included an extra game (16 regular season games instead of 15). There was an extra match-up between Red & Black, and Blue & White scheduled. So far there has only been one night rained out - Black & White and Red & Blue. Because of the mixup, those rain-outs will be made up on Monday, October 7 in place of the extra games that were scheduled between Red & Black and Blue & White.Â
Betty White vs Black Pearl in the early game on Monday, 10/7, followed by Bluepers vs Red Rum. Those games sound like so much fun, they will repeat on Thursday. The schedule is updated to reflect this change.
Our winter indoor pickup Sunday nights at Gold's is confirmed, and already full. If you are interested, check out the posts from Dan on the league's Facebook page. You may still be able to sign up if one of the folks who already committed has to withdraw. Or, you may be able to join for single sessions during the winter when others will be away.
