Thursday, October 10, 2024 - Northern Lights & Jerseys

A rare view of the Northern Lights could be seen from the Lime Kiln Parking lot tonight, or anywhere that was dark as long as you were looking in the correct direction. A long exposure with a camera produced an even better view, and I'm sure I could have gotten a better shot with a tripod to hold the camera steadier, but here's a pic:

Tonight's games were a rematch of Monday's games, and they were similar. Black Pearl and Betty White met in the early game, and again the teams played a very close back-and-forth contest. Betty White held a two point lead at half, but Black Pearl went on a run to take the lead in the second half and they held on to win 10-9 at hard cap. Betty White was frustrated by the cap, and I apologize for not being on the sidelines sooner to give more warning about the time. With the win, Black Pearl tied the season series with Betty White at 2-2, and more importantly they gained a two game lead in the standings with only three games remaining before playoffs.

Red Rum defeated the spirited Bluepers squad 15-7 in the late game. Blake made some great cuts wearing Lightning McQueen Crocs. Simon and Jamonte made great cuts for Bluepers, and Ash played well in the handler space. With the win, Red Rum held on to a one game lead overall in the standings. They will play Black Pearl in the late game on Monday with first place on the line. Bluepers will face Betty White in the early game.

Our Halloween games are on Monday, 10/21. Captains are discussing team costume ideas. Candy will be served. That night is also the final night of the regular season before playoffs.

By nearly unanimous vote, the league has opted to take Halloween Night off, Thursday 10/31. I've updated the schedule. The playoff game scheduled that night is moved to Monday 11/4. That means the championship will be decided either Thursday 11/7, or if a rematch is required because of the fall league's double-elimination format, on Monday 11/11.

Fall jerseys were also at the games tonight. Not everyone spotted the difference in our fall kit. Did you notice? If you didn't get a chance to pick up your fall jersey tonight, look for them on Monday. I will bring them back to the field.
