Fall 2024 Championship

Red Rum faced Black Pearl for the Fall 2024 championship. Since Red Rum had no losses, a win tonight would make them the league champs. Black Pearl's only loss in the playoffs was to Red Rum on October 28th, and the pirates fought their way back to the finals. Unfortunately, those playoff victories proved costly with several Black Pearl players nursing injuries, while others were not available to play either. That left Pearl with Babbs coaching from the sidelines, Torch as their only available DoW, and only one sub. Red Rum had a huge turnout, which gave them a big advantage. Early in the game, Torch injured her ankle leaving Pearl with no DoW at all for a couple of points, but she returned to finish out the game. She continued to handle at a high level too. Bobby and Skippy both had a lot of touches handling for Pearl, and all of their players played hard. 

Red Rum took half 8-6, and went on to win the game and the fall championship 13-9, hard cap. Red's DoW mismatched on a number of points and held their own. Breezy had a great assist to Tom Banney to close out the first half. Sammy and Sam both played well, and Nina caught the final score of the game. Blake got a great bookends after skying to deflect a big huck. Tom Banney scored six of Red Rum's 13 points, and also threw two assists including the final score to Nina. The win gives Royal T bragging rights as captain of both the summer and fall 2024 championship teams, joined by Wilcha, Stefan and Dave. Dave has won four East Fishkill championships in a row: summer and fall 2023, and summer and fall 2024.

Great season, everyone. My additional thanks to all of this fall's team captains, Royal T, Dan, and especially first-time East Fishkill captains Vin, Torch, and Babbs. Your spirit, sportsmanship (sportspersonship?), and communication were essential to making the season safe, fun, and competitive. I appreciate you.
