The field at the Kiln was still muddy after all the recent rain, but the mud started to congeal as we also had fall temperatures. It was good enough to play on, and we were happy to reschedule some rainouts and have games on Columbus Day.
Zombeeeees matched up with Spooky Scary Skeletons in the early game. It was a mud bowl with first place on the line, and the Bees were savage. Skellies had a couple of advantages: they had more undead on their sideline, and Marisa brought not one but TWO different skeleton toys. One was an illuminated skull, and the other was a tiny skeleton. In spite of those advantages, it ended up being a game that went in the Zombeeees favor. Billy Franz had a solid night cutting for Bees, and scored two key points in a row. Skellies scored the last point at hard cap, but it was still a win for Zombeeees, 12-10.
Moldy Bats and shRED faced off in the late game, with both teams looking to end a losing streak. Tom Banney was making cuts all over the field for Bats, and Bobby Owens was doing the same for shRED. Both teams had solid handlers, and mixed up their looks. Bats tried some zone defense. shRED switched back and forth between vert and ho-stack on offense. Bats started the game up 3-1, but shRED came back to tie, and then took half 8-7. shRED pulled away in the second half and got the win 15-9.
After the late game, a few players hung around to play a few points of mini. Good times, but we had to stop so some of them could go get ice cream.
Halloween games are two weeks from tonight on Monday, October 23. Wear a team color appropriate costume you can play disc in. Some teams plan a team costume, so check with your captains or in your team chat. Candy will be served. Keegan will catch Sour Patch Kids in his mouth, whether he plays in the game or not. It's a thing.
