Great news: We played on a Monday! Compared to the flooding in NYC, the Kiln was lucky... but muddy. As night fell, the dew made the disc even more perilously slippery. In fact, one game disc became so mud-caked that it was swapped out for another.

Moldy Bats received the pull from shRED and scored, followed by two breaks to build an early lead 3-0, which proved to be the biggest lead of the game. shRED scored the next four points before Bats tied the game at 4-4. It remained a one-point game until shRED took half 8-7, up a break. Bats pulled to start the second half and broke shRED right back to tie the score at 8-8, and it continued until hard cap, tied 12-12. Bats received the pull on what was to be the last point of the game, and they did not turn the disc over, converting the hold and getting the win 13-12.

Not to be outdone during the late game, some John Waldie organized some players from the early game for some goaltimate on the far softball field. Dave Atwood even managed to join for a few throws even though his team was playing in the late game.

Oh speaking of the late game, that was Zombeeeees vs Spooky Scary Skeletons. In spite of the slippery and muddy conditions, both teams played a clean game. Meta got a shout out from the Skellies for playing an awesome game for Bees, and Zach got props for his play for Skellies too. Zombeeees got the win, 15-9.

With the shRED loss and the Bees win, the two teams are tied atop the extremely close standings at 4-3, with the Skellies only one game back at 3-3, due to having one more rainout on September 7th, when the sky opened up right at the end of the early game. With their win over shRED tonight, the Moldy Bats not only beat a 1st place team, they also moved within two games of first themselves at 2-4. These teams are really looking closely matched, and I love that.

Do you know what else I love? Our Halloween game. That's coming up in three short weeks on Monday, October 21st. If you were planning to show off your skills with a homemade macrame zombie bee, skeleton, bat, or... shredded red thing of some kind, it's important to start tying those knots! You know I will be bringing candy.

And speaking of Mondays, next Monday, October 9th, Columbus Day, we will be playing league games! The rec center will be closed, but the field will be open. It'll be Skellies vs Bees early, followed by shRED vs Bats - a makeup of one of the rainouts earlier this season. The schedule is updated with that info.
