Summer 2022 Semifinals

Monday, August 15, another bone dry night at the Kiln, with the brown grass crunching beneath the thundering cleats of players in hot pursuit of flying plastic.

The 7PM game featured 2nd seed Blu Tang Clan vs 4th seed Black Crows. The game was close early with the score knotted at 4-4. Blue got a score and a break to go up 6-4. Black got a score and a break back to tie at 6-6. Blue scored two more in a row to take half 8-6. Blue received the second half pull and continued scoring, adding four more points to cap a 6-0 run extending back to the first half, and building a commanding 12-6 lead. Black scored two in a row to cut Blue's lead to 12-8, but after that Blue continued to pull away, winning 15-9. Blue's zone defense forced some turns and they capitalized. In spite of that, the real highlight was Diane skying Mirsad on a score for Black Crows. "Ca-caw" for a great season.

The late game matched top seed Cloud 9 with upset-minded 6th seed Blood. Cloud put on a dominating performance, winning 15-2. Blood gave a great effort, but didn't have the subs to stay fresh against Cloud's deeper team.

Late all stars announced by Blood: Jill Wexler, Logan Ritter, and John Waldie (Waldie was credited for last week's playoff win by not playing, and he was also blamed for tonight's loss by not playing.)

Last chance to rock the vote for summer 2022 season awards and at-large all stars.

Votes are due by midnight tonight. The awards and all star game will be right after the championship, planned Thursday, August 18th.
