The air was crisp and the early game was the Mystery of the Kraken. The last time the Purple Kraken and Green Mystery Inc. met, Purple held a lead, but Mystery was able to chase the Kraken down and get the win to remain unbeaten. Since then, Black Pearl was able to even their season series with Mystery, handing the meddling kids their first loss on Monday. Daddy Kraken Vicky was so determined to defeat Mystery tonight, she designed a poster to motivate the tentacles. However the team was unsure of their confidence at the start, cheering "Second half team." Kraken opened the scoring with a break, but did not score again for some time. Liam and Dillon were fashionably late for Kraken, and by the time they took the field, Mystery was up 5-1. Mystery took half 8-4. Could the "Second half" cheer prove prophetic? Turns out it could. Kraken received the second half pull and rattled off a huge comeback. The score was tied 9-9, and Kraken went on to lead 14-10. Mystery would not go down without a fight, scoring three points in a row to cut Kraken's margin 14-13, but Kraken finally got the win, fittingly with Vicky scoring the game's final point, 15-13 Purple Kraken. Did the poster do its job? I say yes.
After that epic contest, the late game had a lot to measure up to. White Claw and Black Pearl both played some zone defense as the temperatures dropped and the disc became chilly and moist. That led to scoring opportunities for both teams, but Black Pearl's patented poachy pirate zone proved to be the difference maker, as it was in their comeback win versus Mystery on Monday. The game was hard capped at 9:15 PM as it was bedtime for some of the more responsible players. Black Pearl escaped the pinchy Claws 13-9, and now sit atop the standings with Mystery losing their second straight game after leading both games at half.
