The field at the Kiln was damp, and as the sun set a mist rose from the wet grass. The early game between Mystery Inc and White Claw was close throughout, with lots of long points and turnovers, even by experienced club players. The Claw pinched a slim lead 11-9, and the sidelines opined it would be their first win of the season. Unfortunately for White Claw, it didn't turn out that way. Mystery caught up and the score was 12-12 as hard cap arrived at 8PM. Mystery scored the final point of the game to narrowly defeat White 13-12, in what was White Claw's strongest effort so far this fall.

The late game featured tons of Kraken's tentacles, who evidently prefer to come out at night, versus Black Pearl minus quite a few of their regular buccaneers. Black Pearl added a few friends for the game, but the matchups still seemed to favor Kraken, who have played Pearl close in their first two games this season even though Pearl won them both. The game was close through the first half, with Pearl's patented poachy pirate zone taking advantage of moist discs. Pearl and friends took half 8-7, and Kraken cheered their tentacular "Second Half Team." Turned out Pearl looked more like the second half team, with Kraken turnovers becoming one throw scores for Pearl. Pearl built a seemingly insurmountable lead 14-8. Then... Kraken mounted a comeback. Tentacles were all over the field as Kraken scored six unanswered points to tie the score at 14-14 - U-point for the second time of the evening. Acting captain of the Pearl, Zay appeared to get a bit more deliberate with his throws, and Pearl made Kraken's comeback for naught but pride, as Pearl scored the final point, winning 15-14.

Fun to see two incredibly close games tonight, even though the higher teams in the standings ended up winning both. By Claw or by Kraken, the league's lower half can play too.
