It was a beautiful sunny day in the 70s at the Kiln, but with the days getting shorter it was already getting dark, chilly and misty at the start of the early game. White Claw was looking to pinch the Black Pearl, and once again the Claws put up a big effort. Pearl continued to play their trademark defense, but White Claw was able to score some points on big throws and take advantage of turnovers. The score remained close, initially with a narrow Claw lead, and later with a narrow Pearl lead. White Claw came within a point a couple of times late in the second half, and each time Black Pearl escaped. With the score 14-13 Pearl, White Claw had three opportunities to get a break and tie to force U point, including a magnificent hand block by Noam. Unfortunately for the Claw, Black Pearl sailed away with a narrow victory, 15-13.

In the late game, Kraken hoped to get away with it again, having won their last match versus the meddling kids of Mystery Inc. Kraken tentacles prefer to come out at night. In fact, they don't seem to get fully warmed up until the second half of the late game. Once again, Kraken fell behind, with Mystery taking half 8-5. Walter was all over the field for Mystery, including a nice bookends score. The women of Kraken played well, and all of the tentacles were involved, but Mystery unmasked the Kraken to take the win 15-12 Green over the Purple "comeback squids."

Only three regular season game nights left before playoffs. The last of them, on Monday, October 25th, is when the league will have our Halloween games. Wear a costume you can play disc in. Candy will be served. Keegs will catch candy in his mouth. Probably on the field. During the game.

Also, shout out to Lu, Abby and Caro - wishing them glorious victories with XIST at Nationals in San Diego next week!
