Walt was acting captain for Red as they met Blue in the second elimination game of the Summer 2021 playoffs. The winning team would advance to play White on Thursday. The teams agreed to a game to 15, win by two, with a hard cap at first team to 17 points.
Red won the toss and began on offense. Blue opened playing zone defense, getting break to start the scoring, and eventually opening a 3-0 lead. Red started slow, but got back on track with a 3-0 run to tie the score at 3-3. The game remained close, with Blue taking half 8-7 and receiving the opening pull of the second half.
That's when Red really got going. Capitalizing on Blue turnovers, Red went on a 5-0 run to start the second half, all on break points. With the score 12-8 Red, things were looking grim for the Blu Tang Clan. However, like the cheer says, they ain't nothin to f* with. Blue went on a four point run of their own to tie the score at 12-12. Red went up 13-12 to end Blue's streak. Blue had a chance to tie at 13-13, but the throw was in and out of the cutter's hands in the end zone. Red capitalized, bringing the score to 14-12 - a huge point. After that, another break sealed the game for Red 15-12, ending Blue's season.
Lots of great plays by both teams, and a great win by Red. With the victory, Red earned a rematch of the classic game with White they played last week. If White wins on Thursday, Red will be eliminated. If Red wins, the teams will meet again next Monday to decide the championship.
Either way, immediately following the White-Red playoff game this Thursday, the Summer 2021 Season Awards will be announced and the All Star game will be played. Come watch two great teams compete for the championship, and stay to cheer your All Star teammates (and maybe sneak in a point yourself, since the All Star game is really more about fun than competition).
