After games were canceled on Thursday, June 3rd due to rain, the league surged back into action on a muggy 90 degree night this Monday. The early game featured Blue searching for their first win against a Black squad that narrowly defeated them the first night of the season. Several Blue players made it to their first game of the young season, and they scored the first point of the game. Black bounced back and built a big lead at half. Bryan Nienstadt scored on a long cross-end-zone cut for the final point of the game for Blue, but it was Black who got the win, 12-8, hard cap.
In the late game, unbeaten White got a great game from Red, who were clearly looking to bounce back from their opening night loss. Both teams were trying hard in this contest. For Red, Tom Santiago made a layout bid on defense. Tyler Wilcha had an excellent all-around game. Bri made a sensational layout for a score. For White, Keegs scored on a closely defended play in the corner of the end zone and flipped the disc like a boss. The sidelines could hear Sports Center music. Cody made a number of hammers, including a stall-one hammer for a score (the best kind of hammer). It was a battle, and could have gone either way with the score very close at the end, but Zay's White team scored the final points to stay perfect so far. 15-12 White.
Thursday's games will be unbeaten White versus winless Blue in the early game, followed by Red versus Black late. Blue has yet to play their best disc. Bug spray is your friend, especially on the sidelines of the late games.
