It was cold at the Kiln, with temperatures dropping into the 30s during the game. In a way, that was good. It helped to stiffen the mud. Spirits were high as the semi-final got underway.
Kraken handed Black Pearl a big L in the first round of the playoffs, and the pirates wanted revenge. Black Pearl scored the first four points of the game before Kraken got on the board. Kraken scored two in a row to cut the Pearl lead to 4-2, but after that Pearl went on another long run. Pearl took half 8-3, and sailed to a comfortable 15-4 win. Kraken and Pearl were both able to create turnovers on defense, but Kraken wasn't able to convert them into scores the way Pearl did.
With the loss, Kraken returned to the depths and ordered French toast and other delicious foods at the Red Line Diner. Black Pearl will face Mystery in the finals on Monday at 6:30 (which Frisbee players have determined really means about 6:45). If Mystery wins, they are the fall champs. If Pearl wins, the teams will have each beaten each other once, so they will face off again on Thursday to decide the championship.
Come watch the finals! Wear something warm! Maybe there will be pickup afterwards.
