The early game tonight was a bloodbath. Literally. In a contest of blood and snacks, it was ultimately determined that the best part of giving blood is the snacks.
The game was close throughout, with multiple tie scores. Scooby Blues took half 8-7, with both teams on serve. Blood built a narrow two point lead in the second half, and the Scoobys fought back to tie it at 12-12. It was late, and it was agreed to decide the game on U point as Blood got a timeout to get fully coagulated. Universe point was hotly contested, but Blood held and got the win 13-12. With the win, Blood clinched the 1 seed in the playoffs, while Scooby Blue slipped to 3rd. Fantastic game, and some great costumes as well, including Eeyore and Scooby Doo himself, in addition to a number of bloody players on both sides.
Polar Bears roared into the nightcap versus a fully decked pirate squad from the Black Pearl. It proved to be another close contest, with both teams making some big plays. While I did not see any bears, per se, I did notice a beaver and unicorn, and Bobby Owens dressed as himself. Not to be outdone, John Waldie was dressed as himself for Black Pearl. I saw Donkey Kong and Yoshi, the no drama llama, and I have to give props to Isaiah D. Casiano for what I believe was the freshest of the pirate costumes. The hat and pants combined to create quite an ensemble. The halftime show featured Keegan and Bri in a contest of distance candy catching.
The Polar Bears got within two points in the second half, but Black Pearl retained the booty, winning the game 15-12. Black Pearl is the 2 seed in the playoffs, while Polar Bears are still dangerous as the 4.
Playoffs start on Thursday, October 24th. Scooby Blue vs Black Pearl in the early game, followed by Blood versus Polar Bears in the late game. Remember, our fall season playoffs are in a double elimination format. See the standings and schedule for details.
There was blood... And candy... But beware the electrified blood. No, for real, beware the electrified blood.
