Monday, August 12, 2019 - Semi-Finals

Hot off their win over Red last week, Blue matched up against 2-seed Green in the first semi final. Three of the first four points were breaks. Blue led at half and held on to win 15-9. There were some great long throws and speedy cuts by both teams, but Blue committed fewer turnovers, and played sharp defense. At one point, Chris America bid for a score in the dirt of the baseball infield end zone. There was a mighty cloud of dust, and the sideline went bananas as he stood up with the disc in his hand. Great season, Green. Blue advances to finals.

Top seed Yellow faced White in the second semi final. Just as White easily dismantled Black in the first half of their playoff matchup last week, White started cold and Yellow built a big lead in the first half of tonight's game. White showed some spirit, and never went away, but the game was Yellow's, 15-7 final. Great season, White. Yellow advances to the finals vs Blue at 7PM Thursday, followed by this summer's awards announcements and the Summer 2019 All Star game.

Please tell your friends to play ultimate with us this fall! Sign-ups for fall league are still open through this coming Sunday, August 18.

Some notes about this Thursday's All Star game:

  • The teams will be chosen at the field, playground style
  • It's going to be madly fun to watch - come for the championship sideline. Stay for the awards and All Stars. Cheer like crazy.
  • Hanz has accepted the challenge to play for both sides in the All Star game, wearing each of the six summer team colors for at least one point.
  • All Stars are encouraged to play for maximum player and crowd enjoyment. Scoobers, Tyrannasaurus Arms, Stall Counts in Other Languages, and Pulls Around the Lights are all things I'm hoping we will get to see and hear.
  • Fans are encouraged to think of other specific feats they would like to observe in the game, including challenges to specific All Stars, and then keep track of them as they occur. Doing this in a BINGO format would be ideal. (Example: Marisa scores and yells "Pop Pop Pop!")
