After a couple of weeks away from the Kiln due to the Labor Day holiday and a lot of rainy weather, East Fishkill Ultimate made a triumphant return at the rec. Flatballs coursed through the skies, and there was much joy on the field and the sidelines.
In the early game, Blue had a strong turnout of their club players, still pumped from last weekend's performances at Sectionals in Middletown. White had a solid squad too, and the game was a good one. Blue came away with the win, 13-9, notching their first victory of the fall season, and handing White their first loss.
Leading up to Sectionals, Zac heard that Jimmy Mickle engages in a hulk-up workout and he tried to do the same. Unfortunately, Zac injured his lower back and ended up missing Sectionals due to the injury. We wish him a speedy recovery, and express our heartfelt opinion that he is a perfect ultimate player just the way he is, with no hulk-up necessary.
Due to Zac's injury, he was on the sidelines for Yellow's matchup with Red. Red was also without Isaiah and Walt, who were TCB for the Funk over the weekend. Yellow had nearly a wholesale on the sidelines, while Red had a few proud subs. Red took the lead early, and Yellow fought back claiming an 8-6 lead at half. Yellow continued to cling to that narrow lead as Red pushed to make a late comeback. Zac had enough, and took to the field without cleats in an effort to inspire his team Willis Reed style. The tactic worked, and Yellow got the win 15-13.
Red is without a doubt the best 0-3 team in the league. While yet to register a victory, their losses have been close, including two games where they had a chance to force U-point.
