After severe storms, downed trees and power failures last week, the Lime Kiln rec has power back, and we were able to get our Summer 2018 season underway on a beautiful night.
Green expected a light turnout, but ended up having eleven players vs Blue. Even without two of their core players, Green looked like a very strong team. Green opened up an early lead over Blue and won the game 15-8.
Red took a page from Green's book, dominating the prime time game versus Yellow. The final was also 15-8, with Red the winning team.
By the end of the second game, the mosquitoes were swarming on the sidelines - emboldened by a week of steady rain, and hungry for the blood of ultimate players. I couldn't stay for the late game, fearing for my life after a few players were carried off as sacrifices to the mosquito queen. Corey reported that Black continued the trend, defeating White by the score of... wait for it... 15-8. If you bet the "All three games will be 15-8" line in Vegas, you would have made some good money tonight.
This Thursday's games are a battle of big winners early: Black vs Red at 6PM, followed by Green vs White in prime time, and a battle of teams looking for their first win when Blue faces Yellow in the nightcap.
Reminder, there are no games next Monday, May 28. The rec center is closed for Memorial Day.
