Black had Ryan on the sidelines with his ankle bandaged from his last game at the rec. White had Frank and Sarah at the game for only the second time this season. The first point took a while as both teams had to get some ill advised big throws out of their system. White was the first to clean up their play, and they built a comfortable lead going into the half. Black got it together in the second half, making a nice comeback, but White got the win in the early game - 15-8.
Blue has too many good players to be winless after five games, but that's where they were in the standings going into tonight's game. Green was missing some players, though they have proven to be a hard running and durable team, even when they play savage. Tonight Blue was determined to get a W, and that's what they did. Even a nice push by Green late couldn't get them close enough. Blue won in prime time, 12-9.
Yellow had nearly a wholesale in the late game, with a big sideline. Red had an athletic team, and some solid handling. Red cruised to an easy win over Yellow on the first night of summer season. Tonight, Yellow was able to keep it close. The game went back and forth, with Red getting small leads and Yellow pulling back even. Red led by two at the half. Yellow got some breaks late, and with the clock nearing 10PM and the game tied at 12, the captains agreed to a 14 point hard cap. Each team scored a point to tie at 13. Universe point! Both squads had a chance to win it, and Yellow completed the comeback on a pitch from Zac to Brian.
With the win, Yellow tied Red atop the standings at 4-2, but Red still holds the tie break on point differential due to the rout in their first game. Three teams are only one game back at 3-3: Green, Black and White. Blue notched their first win tonight, and certainly have the roster to win a lot more. The season is shaping up to be a close one.
