The early game was 6 vs 6. Red built a solid first half lead. Black made a furious comeback in the second half, but fell just short, as red got the win 15-14 on U point. Both teams got a D and had a chance to win. Great game.
Play of the game: Gary boosts a full-field huck to Tom Santiago. Tom Manner was marking Gary. Gary says, "That's going out of bounds." Tom Manner thought, "But Tom might bid for it..." Earlier, the Commish on the sidelines watched Tom S bid for an out of bounds throw, and yelled, "Next time go for the Greatest." With the Commish's admonition in mind, Tom S made a leap out of bounds. With his back to the field, he tossed a blade behind him right to his teammate Brad at midfield. As the rest of the players and the sideline gasped, Tom S made a hard cut back onto the field of play and caught the score from Brad.
In prime time, White matched up with Green with the winner in the driver's seat for the 3 seed in the upcoming playoffs. Green had a strong team, and White was savage. There were great plays made by both teams, as well as throws from both teams that caught teammates in the face. White built a lead early, and held on to win by three, 12-9. With the victory, White clinches the 3rd seed and a first round playoff match with Blue. Due to rainouts White and Blue only played each other twice this summer, with White winning both games.
With the loss, Green is assured a first round match with Black. Green holds a half game lead over Black in the standings for the 4 seed, so a Black win and a Green loss on Thursday would lead to the two teams swapping seeds, but they will play each other either way. That should be a good playoff matchup, since the two teams split their season series 2-2, though Black holds a 6 point margin in head to head point differential in those games.
Yellow defeated Blue 15-7 in the late game tonight. Blue played savage and put up a good fight, but Yellow's two subs helped them to stay a bit more spry after some players from both teams were at Wildwood over the weekend.
