Fall 2018 Playoffs Round 2

White had a nice turnout for an elimination game vs Yellow. Yellow, unfortunately, was missing a lot of players including this summer's men's and ladies' Callahan winners, Zac and Cheyenne. Dr. B. and Brian Rodgers were also missing, leaving Yellow with no subs and few handlers. White took advantage, cruising to a 15-7 victory.

Red had only six players for the late game, while Blue had a big turnout. Red's six came to play, though. Red took an early lead 5-2 over Blue. Blue battled back to tie at 7-7. Red took half 8-7. The weather was getting colder and windier. At one point a pull hovered in the air for what seemed like ten seconds before getting blown back and landing short of midfield. Both teams had drops and turns where the wind took the disc. Bri scored on a couple of short passes for Blue. The score continued to go back and forth until it was tied 11-11, when Blue rattled off three break points to lead 14-11. Two of those points were capped by heroic grabs by Caro. Red held off game point with a big huck for a score. Then, a turn as the disc landed in a puddle at midfield. Isaiah picked up the sopping wet disc, and tossed a beautiful flat throw for a second long score. After a second break, Red scored again to tie the game at 14-14. U point! Blue received. Working the disc near the home sideline, a contested pass was knocked down. Red swung the disc and called timeout with Isaiah handling near the goal. The set play didn't work, but Kate made a beautiful cut for a reset. A couple more passes, and Red got their 3rd break in a row to win the game 15-14.

Weather permitting, Blue and White will face off in an elimination game on Thursday, November 1st. Currently the forecast is calling for more rain, and the field is already a swamp. In the event of a rainout, the game will be postponed to Monday, November 5th. Red has a bye, and will face the winner of the Blue-White game for the Championship. With no losses, Red would need to lose to that team twice to be eliminated.
