Temperatures in the 70s quickly dropped into the 50s as the sun set, and players were literally steaming on the sidelines after running hard on the field in the late game. Tonight's results included two firsts. Black notched its first win of the season, narrowly defeating Blue 13-12 in overtime. Black held a two point lead for most of the game. Blue mounted a furious comeback to lead by one with under a minute to play. Black tied it back up to force OT, and then scored the only point in the extra three minutes.
In the late game, White was savage versus Red with more than a wholesale's worth of subs. Sometimes savage play helps a team build chemistry and get into a groove, and that proved to be the case tonight. White scored the final point of the first half to lead 6-5, and the second half produced the exact same margin, with White winning the game 12-10. The loss was Red's first of the fall, and it could be attributed at least in part to Zac's discomfort playing most of the first half with his shirt inside out.
So, with four games complete, White and Red have split two close games and both teams have beaten both Blue and Black. Blue and Black have also split two games, though the opener was a comfortable win for Blue. Good spirit at the field tonight - thanks everyone for keeping it fun!
