Blue got off to a hot start vs Red in the early game, building a 5-1 lead. Red made a furious comeback and tied the score at 7-7. Red scored again and made the halftime score 8-7. Receiving the second half pull, Red kept the momentum, reeling off a string of points, ultimately winning 15-8. With the win, Red clinched the 1 seed in the playoffs.
In the late game, wind was a factor, with both teams trying big hucks that carried on the breeze. White had too many that sailed out the back of the end zone or too far for the cutter to catch up. Black was able to corral enough of their windy throws to build a lead. It was 8-3 Black at the half, and Black remained hot, going on to win 15-6. It was Black's first non-forfeit win over White this Fall, and it pulled them one game ahead of Blue in the standings to clinch the 3 seed. After the Red win, White was assured the 2 seed.
The playoffs begin this Thursday, weather permitting. The games will be a rematch of tonight's contests, but in reverse order. 2-seed White faces 3-seed Black early. Black and White both had some forfeits this season, with White dominating the matchup when both teams showed up, until tonight. Can Black make it two in a row? 1-seed Red will play 4-seed Blue late. Blue hasn't beaten Red this season, but they had a big lead slip away tonight, and the two teams played an epic overtime game on September 28 that ended with a universe point win for Red. Anything can happen in the playoffs!
