COMETH THE DEMON
Wearied by their experiences in the war,
Jack and the Baron return to the Castle at Dudley.
But although they have survived unscathed,
the Demon that was summoned up at Coventry
has not forgotten them.

In the south-eastern tower of the Donjon,
(the one beneath the *)
the Demon comes in search of its illustrious victim.
With his Gran accused of heresy and witchcraft,
Jack offers to prove her innocence by 'Trial by Combat'.
If he loses, his Gran will be burned at the Stake.
The Cookney ran forwards,
swinging his pick so hard that it gouged a groove on the gilded metal of Jack's shield.
In the shambles that follows,
the Old Gods and Godesses are called upon
in a desperate attempt at outwitting the Demon.
a spectre rose up slowly from the ground."
Afterword
It is recorded that the Baron of Dudley assisted
King Edward the Second in his war against the barons.
And many of the activities that are described here
are taken from accounts from that time.
The battles at Burton, Tutbury and the surrender of Kenilworth to the Baron did occur.
However, since Jack was a mere archer,
his contribution would not have been recorded.
But we can surmise . . . .
The raising of a demon at Coventry
is also mentioned in the medieval records.
However, the details of the ceremonies
and their outcomes
were revealed to me by
my own personal deamon.
(Or was it my subconscious mind?)
"WHO SAID THAT?"
