DSKAY Technologies Zimbabwe (PVT) LTD (“DSKay”, “we”, “us”, “our”)
DSKay is committed to protecting the health, safety and welfare of our employees, contractors, clients, visitors, and any other persons who may be affected by our operations. We will, as far as is reasonably practicable, prevent injuries and ill-health, reduce risk exposure, and continuously improve our HSE performance through effective management systems.
This Policy:
demonstrates management and employee commitment to health and safety;
aims to eliminate hazards and reduce risks associated with our operations; and
ensures work activities are planned and executed safely.
This Policy applies to all DSKay employees, contractors, and subcontractors and to all workplaces where DSKay operates, including offices, client sites, and project sites.
The online/digital version of this Policy is the controlled version. Printed copies are uncontrolled and may be outdated. Where there is uncertainty, the latest version should be confirmed with management.
4.1 Management responsibilities
Management will, as far as is reasonably practicable:
provide and maintain a safe working environment and safe systems of work;
provide fit-for-purpose tools, equipment, and PPE required for the task and risk level;
ensure plant, tools, and substances are safe and properly maintained;
provide relevant HSE information, instruction, training, and supervision;
consult and cooperate with employees on HSE matters; and
investigate incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
4.2 Employee responsibilities
Every employee and contractor must:
comply with HSE procedures, site rules, and safe work instructions;
take reasonable care for their own safety and that of others;
use PPE correctly and maintain it in good condition;
follow management instructions relating to safety;
not misuse or interfere with safety equipment or controls;
report hazards, near misses, incidents, and injuries immediately; and
exercise Stop-Work Authority—stop work if conditions are unsafe and escalate to supervision.
5.1 Communication and awareness
DSKay will communicate this Policy during onboarding and through periodic briefings. Employees must know emergency procedures relevant to their work location, including evacuation routes, emergency contacts, and first-aid arrangements.
5.2 Risk assessment and safe planning
Risk assessments (including task-based assessments) must be conducted before commencing work, particularly for project and site activities. This includes:
identifying hazards;
identifying who may be harmed and how; and
evaluating risks and implementing controls using the hierarchy of controls (eliminate, substitute, engineer, administrate, PPE).
Risk assessment outcomes will be documented, and safe work procedures updated where required.
5.3 Incident reporting and investigation
All incidents, injuries, property damage, and near misses must be reported immediately to management/supervision. DSKay will investigate incidents to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
All personnel must comply with the following minimum rules:
Follow established safe work procedures and client site rules at all times.
Report hazards immediately using the designated reporting channel/form.
Do not distract other workers where distraction may create risk.
Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery where it may create entanglement or snag hazards.
Wear required PPE (e.g., safety boots, gloves, goggles, hearing protection, masks/respirators, high-visibility clothing) as identified by the risk assessment and/or site rules.
Do not operate tools, machinery, or equipment unless trained and authorised.
Isolate and make safe equipment before cleaning, repairing, or leaving it unattended (lockout/tagout principles where applicable).
Maintain good housekeeping; keep walkways clear and work areas tidy.
Do not block access to fire extinguishers, electrical panels, exits, or emergency routes.
Comply with smoking regulations and only smoke in designated areas (where permitted).
For electrical work, use correct protective devices, test equipment, and safe isolation procedures.
For working at heights, use approved access equipment and fall protection where required.
DSKay operates a zero-tolerance approach to drug and alcohol use, possession, or working under the influence during working hours, on client sites, or while travelling for project duties. Breaches may result in removal from site and disciplinary action.
DSKay is committed to ongoing improvement through audits, reviews, training, and lessons learned from incidents and near misses.
Report any hazards, near misses, incidents, or unsafe conditions to info@dskay.co.zw (Subject: “HSE Report”). Please include the site/location, date/time, a brief description of the concern, and any supporting photos where available. DSKay will handle reports responsibly and will take appropriate action to mitigate risk.
