Stefan Volk is a Professor of Management at the University of Sydney Business School. He works closely with researchers, organizations, and executives internationally on topics at the intersection of biology, leadership, and the future of work, helping organizations build cultures that support sustainable performance, wellbeing, and long-term careers.
In his research, Stefan explores the biological foundations of performance, health, and wellbeing among employees, leaders, and teams. He investigates the frictions between the modern workplace and evolved patterns of human functioning, and advises organizations on how to better align work with human biology to improve both performance and wellbeing. His work bridges rigorous scientific research with practical organizational challenges, helping leaders rethink performance through a more human and sustainable lens.
Stefan’s work has been published in leading academic and practitioner outlets, and he is a frequent contributor to executive education and leadership development programs. He also regularly speaks to corporate and public-sector audiences about leader sustainability and high-performance work cultures and advises companies on these topics.
