Research Methodology (ESC-701)

Course Objective:

The main objective of this course is to study the qualitative and quantitative research methods used in information systems, business and management. The main topics of the course including quantitative and qualitative research, research designs, reviewing the literature, formulating research questions, ethics in business research, sampling and data collection methods, content analysis, quantitative analysis, Using SPSS for quantitative analyses, computer-assisted qualitative analyses using Nvivo and writing research paper/proposal.

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. · Demonstrate a familiarity with a broad array of research methods and approaches used in business and management particularly in information systems.

  2. · Comprehend how to critically analyze in writing or presenting research proposal/paper

  3. · Understand how to write literature review and identify the gap in the ongoing research

  4. · Demonstrate a familiarity with data collection methods

  5. · Know how to write research proposal/journal or conference papers
